The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) has inked a tripartite memorandum of understanding with deep-tech firm ATLANT 3D and the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster (NAMIC) to launch A-HUB, an advanced materials development hub in Singapore focused on AI-driven materials discovery.

The partnership combines ATLANT 3D's proprietary Direct Atomic Layer Processing (DALP) technology with A*STAR IMRE's materials science expertise and NAMIC's additive manufacturing ecosystem to create what the parties describe as the world's first high-throughput materials innovation foundry for semiconductors, silicon photonics, and advanced packaging.
Singapore has been steadily building its credentials as a global hub for advanced manufacturing and materials science. This latest collaboration brings together a European deep-tech player with Singapore's national research infrastructure, reflecting the city-state's strategy of attracting specialised technology partners to complement its R&D ecosystem. ATLANT 3D's atomic-scale manufacturing capability — which enables programmable, precise materials synthesis at the atomic level — fills a specific gap in Singapore's materials innovation pipeline, where the ability to rapidly prototype and test new materials has been a bottleneck.
The A-HUB platform is designed to operate as a digital closed-loop system: AI models will guide materials synthesis, characterisation, and optimisation in an autonomous cycle, dramatically reducing the time from lab discovery to commercial application. For Singapore's semiconductor industry — which already accounts for a significant share of global chip production — this could accelerate the development of next-generation packaging and photonic components that are critical for AI hardware and high-performance computing.
