Singapore-headquartered artificial intelligence firm Cogniviti Labs (C-Labs) has launched operations in South Africa, bringing its AI-powered procurement and finance automation solutions to the African market. The expansion, announced on July 14, marks the latest step in the company's rapid global growth from its base in Singapore.

C-Labs was founded in Singapore and has built a network of delivery centres across Singapore, India, and Indonesia, with operations now extending to Australia, the United Kingdom, and South Africa. The company specialises in Coupa source-to-pay transformation — combining operating model design, solution implementation, and change management with deployment of AI agents purpose-built for procurement and finance workflows.

The South African arm will be led by Manav Sachdeva, a procuretech and digital transformation veteran with over two decades of experience in procurement innovation and automation. Operating from a Johannesburg base with a local sales and delivery team, the unit will serve clients across the African continent while drawing on C-Labs' established delivery centres in Singapore and India. The company has also developed its own stack of AI-driven Spend Analytics and Master Data Management tools, alongside a portfolio of custom AI agents designed to automate complex procurement tasks and generate actionable intelligence from fragmented enterprise data.

Unlike off-the-shelf procurement platforms, C-Labs co-develops solutions with each client, tailoring AI agents to specific business challenges, data environments, and existing ERP systems including SAP, Oracle, Microsoft, and Sage. The company describes its approach as augmenting — rather than replacing — enterprise procurement teams by automating repetitive workflows and surfacing insights that would otherwise remain buried in fragmented data sets.

Why it matters for Singapore: Cogniviti Labs' expansion into Africa demonstrates that Singapore's AI startup ecosystem is producing globally competitive enterprise solutions beyond the consumer app space. For a city-state building its reputation as a hub for AI innovation, having portfolio companies expand into new continents — not just regional markets — reinforces the message that Singapore-based AI firms can compete on the world stage in sectors like procurement, finance, and supply chain transformation.
