Avnet is bringing its Edge & Beyond Tech Days to Singapore on July 10, convening a broad ecosystem of semiconductor and technology partners to tackle the next frontier: moving AI from experimentation into scaled, real-world deployment at the edge. The event, hosted at Sheraton Towers Singapore, will feature keynotes and showcases from AI Singapore, Nanyang Polytechnic, Weston Robot, and over 20 technology partners including AMD, NXP, STMicroelectronics, Molex, and Renesas.

The timing reflects a maturing market: 81% of companies in Singapore and Southeast Asia have moved beyond AI experimentation, and 56% of Singapore companies report progress toward scaled AI adoption, according to McKinsey and Avnet Insights data. The digital economy now contributes 18.6% of Singapore's GDP. Avnet's Regional President for South Asia and Korea, Tan Aik Hoon, noted that "access to technology is no longer the primary hurdle — the focus has turned to the practicalities of architecture and integration, specifically how to take complex AI models and run them efficiently and reliably at the edge."

Event focus areas align with Singapore's National AI Strategy 2.0, covering AI-driven industrial applications, real-time edge intelligence, robotics and physical AI innovation, and embedded AI platforms. Nanyang Polytechnic will demonstrate AI-powered smart surveillance and intelligent edge vision systems for healthcare, transport, logistics, and manufacturing, while AI Singapore will share insights from the national AIxTech initiative on building AI-ready talent.

Why it matters for Singapore: The Avnet Tech Days exemplify the ecosystem-deepening that Singapore needs to move from pilot projects to production-grade AI. With 56% of engineers now shipping AI-enabled products, the bottleneck has shifted from access to AI models to practical integration at the edge. Events like this — pairing global component suppliers with local institutions like AI Singapore and Nanyang Poly — help bridge that gap. For Singapore-based engineers and decision-makers, this represents a rare opportunity to evaluate end-to-end edge AI solutions from sensors to software, all under one roof.
