Meta has launched a new line of AI-powered smart glasses under its own brand, starting at US$299 — the company's most affordable AI wearable to date. The Meta Glasses collection, developed with EssilorLuxottica, signals a more direct consumer strategy beyond the Ray-Ban and Oakley collaborations.
The collection includes three frame families — Adventurer, Fury, and Starfinder — across 26 styles with prescription, clear, and sun lens options. Features include an ultra-wide 12MP camera for photos and 3K video, open-ear speakers, five microphones, and hands-free Meta AI access for translations, music, calls, and messaging. Battery life is rated at eight hours, extending to 48 hours with the charging case. Pre-orders opened in the US on June 25, with international availability yet to be announced.
Unlike earlier collaborations that leveraged established eyewear brands, Meta Glasses carry the company's own branding. The lower price point targets a broader audience than the premium Ray-Ban Meta line, which previously started at higher price points.
Why it matters for Singapore: HardwareZone Singapore's coverage — the first local publication to report the launch — reflects strong consumer interest here. With Singapore's high smartphone penetration and early adoption of wearable tech, AI glasses represent the next frontier for hands-free computing. Meta AI is already available in Singapore, positioning local users to benefit from the platform when the hardware eventually arrives. The sub-US$300 price point makes AI eyewear accessible beyond early adopters.
