Fintechs have spent the past two years figuring out how to make AI subscriptions part of everyday banking — and Revolut's latest move in Singapore shows the playbook crystallising. The digital bank is bundling up to 12 months of ChatGPT Go, OpenAI's step-up tier above the free version, into its Singapore plans alongside a foodpanda subscription, in what reads like a bid to make paid banking plans the default home for consumers' AI tools.

The offer, announced on Aug 12, runs across all three tiers. Metal customers get 12 months of ChatGPT Go, Premium customers six months and Standard customers three months, with the AI access layered on top of the travel insurance, overseas ATM allowances and media subscriptions Revolut already bundles into its paid plans. ChatGPT Go lifts the limits on messaging, file uploads, image generation and memory compared with the free tier — the kind of headroom that turns casual chatbot use into daily workflow. Premium and Metal members additionally get foodpanda's pandapro subscription, covering delivery fee discounts, grocery savings and up to S$10 in TADA ride discounts.

Revolut's chief executive for Singapore and Southeast Asia, Raymond Ng, framed the perks as a response to subscription fatigue: consumers are increasingly selective about what they pay for, so paid plans need to deliver value every day. That logic explains the pairing — bundling AI access with lifestyle perks positions the subscription as a single payment covering both productivity and convenience, rather than an a-la-carte stack of separate apps.

The move also reflects how deeply AI access has become a competitive feature in consumer finance. In Singapore, where OpenAI usage is among the highest per capita in Asia, giving away ChatGPT Go is a low-cost way for Revolut to stay sticky — the more a customer builds daily habits around an included AI tool, the less likely they are to churn. Rivals have been circling the same territory, with digital banks and telcos experimenting with AI bundles as a retention lever rather than a revenue line.

Why it matters for Singapore: Singaporeans are already among the world's heaviest AI users, and bundling paid AI access into everyday financial products accelerates that adoption curve — it turns an optional subscription into a default benefit. For consumers, the real cost of premium AI tools keeps falling; for the market, it signals that AI access is becoming standardised infrastructure inside financial services. Watch for competitors to match the offer, and for the bundling battle to shift from price to how deeply AI is actually woven into the banking experience itself.
