A six-month trial of an AI-powered exercise planning tool for Healthier SG enrollees has begun, offering 270,000 Singaporeans aged 40 to 64 personalised workout plans through the HealthHub app. Developed by Synapxe and HPB, the tool uses generative AI to tailor exercise recommendations based on individual health plans, preferences, and lifestyle data.

Singapore's national health initiative just got an AI upgrade. A six-month trial of an artificial intelligence tool that generates personalised exercise plans for Healthier SG enrollees kicked off on July 27 — putting generative AI directly into the hands of 270,000 Singaporeans aged 40 to 64 who are generally healthy and have already created their health plans with a registered doctor.
Developed by the Ministry of Health's healthtech agency Synapxe, together with the Health Promotion Board (HPB) and a group of healthcare professionals, the Health Plan AI tool lives inside the HealthHub mobile app and website. Users tell it their workout preferences — indoor or outdoor, individual or group, preferred timings and exercise types — and the AI generates a customised seven-day exercise plan at the right intensity, complete with video demonstrations and targeted muscle group information.
The tool draws on content from HPB's MOVE IT website, ActiveSG programmes, and People's Association community activities — so the recommendations are grounded in actual available programmes rather than generic fitness advice. Built-in safety features check for symptoms like chest discomfort or dizziness before recommending exercises, and the AI won't push users beyond their declared capability level. It's a pragmatic approach that prioritises safety over optimisation.
As of May 2026, over 1.4 million residents — 59 per cent of the eligible population — have enrolled in Healthier SG, with 83 per cent completing their first health plan. That means there is a significant addressable base beyond the current 270,000 trial cohort, many of whom have chronic conditions that could benefit once the tool expands. Synapxe confirmed that personalised dietary advice is also on the roadmap, building on earlier work with a digital assistant prototype called HealthGuide@Home.
Why it matters for Singapore: Health Plan AI represents one of the most tangible deployments of generative AI in Singapore's public healthcare infrastructure — not in a controlled lab setting, but as a consumer-facing tool used by hundreds of thousands of citizens. The trial's three monitoring indicators — usage rate, user feedback, and safety compliance — will determine whether it becomes permanent. If successful, it could pave the way for more AI-powered health interventions across the Healthier SG ecosystem, from nutrition planning to chronic disease management, all delivered through the same HealthHub platform that already reaches millions.
