Optro, the AI-powered governance, risk, and compliance platform formerly known as AuditBoard, has opened a new regional hub in Singapore — bringing the first fully automated controls testing solution to the Asia Pacific market. Trusted by more than half of the Fortune 500, Optro's expansion signals that the agentic AI wave is now reaching the boardroom's compliance function, not just the engineering floor.

The company recently acquired Midship, an AI-native autonomous controls testing platform, allowing it to automate up to 87 per cent of controls management. According to Optro's APAC research, 39 per cent of organisations in the region now identify digital disruption including AI as a key risk, while 58 per cent rank regulatory change as their top audit priority. The Singapore hub will serve as the centre for localised support and partner delivery across APAC.

Optro counts OCBC among its Singapore customers. Harry Lim, Head of Group Audit at OCBC, said the platform allows the bank to "sharpen our focus on what matters most" by automating routine audit workflows. The company is also showing at the Institute of Internal Auditors International Conference 2026 in Singapore this week, and has been named to Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies list for 2026.

Why it matters for Singapore: Optro's decision to anchor its APAC operations in Singapore reinforces the city-state's position as a base for AI-powered enterprise software. As regulatory complexity grows across Southeast Asia — with new data protection, AI governance, and AML rules coming into force — the tools that automate compliance will increasingly be built and managed from Singapore. For a market where financial services represents a third of GDP, agentic GRC is more than a product category — it is a strategic capability.
